Eating Disorder Treatment

I want to first say that complete recovery from an eating disorder is possible!  Yet, making the decision to seek treatment for an eating disorder can be difficult.  Many times individuals underestimate the severity of the eating disorder and associated behaviors.  Others may think that they do not deserve treatment, and that they should try once again to recover on their own.  For many sufferers, living with an eating disorder can feel like being caught in a trap with no escape, involving feelings of sadness, shame, gilt, and self-criticism.  At the same time, eating disorders generally serve some function in the person's life, and it can therefore be quite scary to think of giving up the eating disorder.

Eating disorders can be serious illnesses that affect physical, emotional, and social aspects of one's life.  Research shows that long-term recovery from an eating disorder is possible, and that the best outcomes are achieved when the person receives care from professionals with specialized knowledge of eating disorders, ideally from a team including a physician, a dietician, and a therapist.  I collaborate closely with physicians and dieticians to ensure that clients receive the appropriate types of support to help them in their road towards recovery.
